I find contentful Apps very useful, I love custom fields
Moving data between environments, there's still room for improvement in that area, I don't think the CLI is doing a good job in making it easier to move data between environments
Static Site generation Content management by a large marketing team
I enjoy Simple UI that gets the job done which contentful has. Offers extras like SSO
not issues that we have encountered, we have been very happy with contentful
Having a single source of truth has been great for our developer team
We use the product for all our environments and it's a central repository for all our feature and needs. Very easy to work with and intuitive ineterface.
You can't just give access to one environment specifically like just qa access
Setting up content for the site and also content as per conditions
Being able to schedule posting + immediate publishing
Can be hard to find the correct component I'm looking to edit
Having to wait for a regular cadence to run scripts to publish new app creative. with Contentful, am able to publish immediately to serve urgent business needs
It's very straightforward and easy to navigate. I'm an intern and I have never worked with a content management system before but contentful was easy to pick up within a couple of days.
I personally don't know any yet but I've only been working with it for about 8 weeks.
My team is organizing content on Contentful so that we can use it as our CMS in the rest of our company.
The flexibility that Contentful provides was a key benefit for our team. It allowed us to build customized placements in our mobile app without overcomplicating the deployment process. Our marketing team can easily deploy messaging via our CRM/Automation platform to these custom placements throughout our app by simply building the content in Contentful using pre-built templates. It's reduced our team's dependency to secure engineering resources for simple changes or message deployments into the app. Contentful has been a great way to enable multiple teams across our business, from Operations to Care.
The content customization options are lacking. The text editor sections only allow you to input text to a field but don't allow you to customize your text (bold/underline/colors/etc.). The customization is built into the template/placement by devs/engineering, which isn't ideal for marketers when we'd like to emphasize or draw attention to one part of your copy. This is where the "flexibility" begins to break down.
The main problem we solved was enabling the marketing and other operational teams to quickly and efficiently deploy messaging into our mobile app with little effort. We've realized the tremendous benefit of freeing up dev and engineering resources to focus on other critical feature rollouts. We're also able to deploy messaging without an app update release which reduces the amount of time needed to complete projects. Having the ability to change and update content on the fly, even after deployment, has been beneficial—errors and mistakes are resolved at a much faster pace than before.
I like how easy and simple the tool is for implementation but also changes.
It can be very manual especially when you need to every time you make a change ensure all the other steps are also published again.
We managed to reduce our dependency in the tech team on the small changes and build landing pages way more efficiently.
One of the key features of contentful is the flexibility to create and combine content through its template. What is make it really powerful is the graphQL API
With so many nested template is hard to preview for non technical person the final content, which sometimes require double effort
Dinamic content on any website, as well as, complex configuration settings
Contentful has a really nice ecosystem of SDKs, APIs and associated tools to support integration, automation and developer experience.
There's a good deal of documentation available online, but it's somewhat difficult to navigate & fragmented (developer portal, API reference, forum, etc.) Docs could do with some tidying up & iA oversight.
We wanted to augment content metadata published from an inflexible master system of record without the overhead of having to introduce a 'heavyweight' CMS. We can leverage Contentful's management API to push update messages to Contentful, have content editors apply metadata updates, and then leverage Contentful's rich webhook integration options to push updates to a production cache of content metadata.
The fact you can use the software easily with tutorials in case you need help getting started.
There wasn't much to dislike from this software. The software makes it simple for beginners who never had experience in website building.
How to start up my online pet store and make the site flawless.
The way that you collect and reach out to your content
The limited use of it for being mostly developer friendly environment.
We host multiple websites of our clients, and the structures and whole content we use for those websites are now managed by contentful. This is the piece of mind.
We like the support for multiple languages along with the APIs they provide. Our developers love it. We also like the integration with AWS Lambda & API gateway.
We are still in pilot phase. So far so good.
We publish lot of blog posts for our customers. Sometimes we publish 30-40 blog posts a week. Most of the content is related to tech and how customers can use different services. We are able to gauge how much impact is it creating based on the analytics.
The UI is really nice. I have a lot of flexibility around configuration. I also like how much I was able to do just using the free version of their application. Having all my content in one place is great too.
Can't view how the page is structured - cross-browser. Kinda slow at times when doing more complex tasks
We have a bunch of people managing content and we're also about to launch a new website.
I mostly use Contentful's CMS interface. It's easy for a large team to manage and update. We built our site using components and the content model is well suited for translating those components into content types and pages. We have built two iterations of our site on Contentful. Our developers love building with Contentful's framework. It gives us a lot of flexibility and allows our staff to have more control over content that isn't so dependent on code.
There's no out-of-the-box blog solution so we use a third-party blogging platform.
We're a nonprofit so we need to have a site that can handle both evergreen and new content.
Extensive feature set, good documentation
Some technical challenges when integrating
My business has a new website with its content managed by Contentful. Contentful's service has given us the freedom to use our preferred tools and platforms to build the website, while taking away the headaches of creating our own CMS or using a tightly integrated 3rd party CMS. Content is managed by a number of different people with varying technical skills. The clarity and simplicity of the Contentful features and interfaces makes it straight forward to maintain our content and train new staff in how to do so. In addition, the fine grained user permissions and roles allow us to restrict editing of specific content to certain trusted users. This was a key requirement for us. From a technical perspective, after initial trial and error and some hiccups, the integration and tooling provided by Contentful helped us get up and running quickly. Contentful's documentation is very thorough and their support very responsive, so any issues we had were quickly resolved. I would happily recommend Contentful to businesses looking for a powerful and flexible CMS solution.
