It’s easy to use, colourful and the music is very entertaining
It can be a bit slow at times, and there isn’t a variety of options
Increasing participation in cladses
I like the setup and design of the software. Colorful and engaging
It does not record data for individuals when doing a live quiz
It has made it easier to do quick quizzes and studying
Kahoot is an easy platform to use on the spot for quick quiz sessions in education
It would be nice if different formats were available for a more professional look vs the current style
We have used the software to drill trainees weekly on topics they should be learning
I love how easy it is to collect data from over thousands of people in a short amount of time at the same room via using this application.
The higher the number of participants gets, the slower the system goes.
I have been using this application for deciding on things for projects and collecting data from my employees.
The ability to adjust the content to fit the classroom. We are able to train our seasonal staff in a fun and creative way. It is also very customizable
It is best when it is used with a WiFi connection otherwise some answers do not get recorded in a timely manner making it frustrating for players/staff who answered correctly and in a faster time.
We primarily use it for Staff Training but have also used it as a fun way to engage staff during review sessions.
It gets the kids learning but in a fun manner. Regular classroom time can be boring, so having a fun game that is still educational that i can make is useful.
the kids can make their own username, which sometimes uses bad words.
The kids have fun while learning. Theyre able to work in groups to get to the answer. Also, we use it during incentive friday and do the fun Kahoot sets.
You can use this in your classroom in place of "clickers" You enter the questions ahead of time, then in class you show them, and the students use their smartphones to choose their answers. It shows stats for right and wrong answers for the questions, and tracks students' scores. The students enjoy it. I make an account to share with the students, and have THEM create the questions.
The user interface is a bit clunky. Wish I didn't have to give them the account password so that they can add questions.
Saves us from needing to buy "clickers", since the students already have smartphones
Funny, easy & alternative way to exam for everyone.
Some times you loose the test because of server connectivity issue.
Check knowledge of team in newer way.
Provides quick feedback about student comprehension of topics. Allows users to take advantage of assessments created by others and modify them as necessary.
Not much. It was very useful. Did not like that it was not uncommon for students to use expletives and inappropriate language when they were signing in for the kahoot quiz and giving a name.
Instant feedback on the overall understanding that students in a class have of the subject matter. Good for initial assessments prior to a lesson, or preparation for a summative assessment.
Kahoot is very interactive and educational for an entire classroom.
Locating quality Kahoots can be challenging.
Review material for the classroom.
Students get excited about learning and engage with the material, great info refresher. Competitive edge engages them in practice and review of material and skills.
The background music is stressful, but otherwise no complaints
Able to engage students whose learning styles are not always catered to in a traditional classroom. Given a fun way to review that students get excited for. Gives students motivation to review and practice.
I love the kid-friendly look at feel of this site. I can add in pictures and videos to really make the questions fit the material that we're discussing. Kids love it so much they like to make their own Kahoots for their classmates during free time.
The site can be slow on some computers, which can frustrate a student trying to play along with their classmates.
Kahoot gets even the most tricky students engaged in what we're doing. It's the easiest way to gameify your classroom!
The students LOVE it. What was once boring--a quiz or review--is now exciting! Students look forward to doing kahoots and get excited whenever they hear that music play. It's pretty easy to set up a quiz and to play it or share it with other instructors.
The music, quite frankly, is obnoxious. There's also been times when I wished I could do more on the actual platform, like adding videos and more pictures to the individual question. Some of our classes deal with art, entertainment, and the like, and it would be nice to be able to use more media. I also find it frustrating how limited the characters are when you are trying to write out a question and answer. Give us more characters!
We have to have efficient ways to give quizzes and reviews to 100s of students at the time. We use to hand out quizzes, grade them individually, etc...it was such a hassle, especially because many of the assignments are graded for participation rather than for an actual grade.
Kahoot is a fun way to have students get engaged in class. Most students really love the competitive aspect of Kahoots and that fact that everyone is working against each other.
I don't like that students have to look at their computer screen and the large classroom screen simultaneously. It can be hard for some students. It is also really just a review game. Since it is multiple choice, it's more of just a way to introduce a topic or review topics and it is extremely difficult to incorporate higher-level thinking.
Students love to play Kahoots, and even students who are disengaged in class usually perk up when it is time for a Kahoot. It is a fun way to review. It is also nice that there are so many Kahoots that are premade to pick from.
I first used it at a training for my job. After that I have used it at various meetings. I think it's a really fun way to address the group of people and diffuse the tension in the room a little bit. I also love how it is just like a game rather than being very formal.
Very slow at times. When there is a heavy load on the website, it just freezes on a lot of devices.
I have generally used it for the start of the meetings to ease up the mood of the members. It does a great job!
I love that you can quiz everyone in a room and it's so easy to set it up
I don't like the fact that strangers join the game sometimes.
quiz, testing, playing,
Kahoot! allows me to throw in a quick, fun activity to stimulate conversation in a classroom or presentation setting.
Only certain types of questions/polls work for Kahoot! It is better as a poll than as a knowledge quiz.
Kahoot! facilitates engagement in even the most mundane presentations or lectures.
Quick way to figure out level of understanding with my students
Students without a device cannot utilize the program
Solving the problem of quick checking for understanding using a fun method.
It's a small, but very important details: I really appreciate that the answer choice selection buttons are a combination of colors and shapes! I'm very cognizant of various learning disabilities, and combining colors and shapes really helps reach a larger portion of my students as they "play" Kahoot. The other thing I really like is the concept itself: Kahoot allows me to assess learning and check progress, while students think it's tons of fun!
As with most online learning tools, not all of the students at my university have smart phones or tablets, and it therefore requires some additional planning on my part to ensure that some library tablets are available for use for those students without their own equipment, to allow them to participate as well.
A major challenge is engaging media-savvy millennials in a traditional classroom-style setting. Kahoot helps keep "traditional" assessment methods like pop quizzes and group discussion engaging and effective.
I like that it is engaging and offers a multiplayer experience where friends and colleagues can join for whatever activity is planned and learn. I also like browsing to find other content that suits me for whatever I may need.
It is not so easy to use, especially for newcomers and also unable to go back and change previous answers submitted before the timer runs out. Other than those, I have no complaints
It helps with group and individual learning, especially regarding assignments. Doing assignments and having review sessions has now been a lot more fun with the music. It really fits and isn't too overbearing or distracting.
