I was looking for a tool that would allow capacity planning and tracking for a project management team. We needed a tool which allows to share the planning with the client on RO access. This tool simply provided me with all the aspects i wanted. moreover, it's friendlyness and ease of use convinced me (if needed) to select it. A look at the price confirmed my choice. It was without any doubt the best value for money I assessed.
As the team leader and administrator of the Float Application I feel is missing : The report Tab is not available on mobile devices. The capacity report tab is only in hours and we can't have it in load %.
Float is definitively easy to use and still brings me with the expected features. I have no regret on my choice !
I like to have an overview on what I'll be working on and also, what my colleagues are doing.
I feel like there's not much else to do than watch my calendar. It feels like a small app with not many features.
It helps my colleagues to know on which project is everybody.
Ease of usage. Ability to archive users & save on billing without mandatory deleting.
Look and feel and color feels pretty old school
Scheduling for all creative workers on the team. Helps everyone know what they need to do and when. Prevents lot of back & forth communication.
I really like how intuitive Float is. I like how you can overview many different projects at the same time and keep track of the progress on each of them. It's also very useful that you can get reports for overtime, holidays and production time spent on each job.
I think it still has a lots of areas to improve (but so fat it's going in the right direction!). I think the reports part could be improved as it includes too much information. I also think the font used on the pencils is not very easy to read. I think it would also help if we could see the details of each booking when we hoover over it with our mouse.
It's proved to be crucial to keep a daily record of what our team is doing and how much to charge for each project that we've been working on. It's helping us to be more organised and be able to accommodate bigger projects.
The app is very polished, and I often get the feeling apps are very bloated, but this app works very well. It is simple, and does not have too many features, but that's good compared to trying to do this in other software. We used to use outlook to manually signal when we would use PTO or be on projects, but now it's all in one place.
The schedule view is a bit cumbersome, since there is so much data represented. It can feel cumbersome scrolling through two dimensions of time and all of our users trying to find anything.
We are able to see in one place who is on what project, and using PTO. We are not using it to its full potential for sure. We've needed a dedicated tool for this, but it is hard to see the benefit without trying.
Easy to use Efficient and collaborative for our project manager
Smartphone app are very limited Lack of certains features that will help us to easily handle access rights No extraction to create a schedule in a xls or pdf format
With have more than 20 project manager working on 80 to 100 projects so it helps us to optimize their schedules and adjust in case of emergency. Also it help us to track the budget cost of each project but that last part need some improvement
Overall, it is very easy to input project and hours.
There are project report and people report that are provided by Float. But I feel like there isn't a bridge to connect people and project. In many situations, we want to see what kinds of projects that people are working on. For example, for person A, we want to see a report that show for this week, A is working on project B for 4 hours a day, 20 hours a week, project C for 2 hours a day, 10 hours a week and project D for 2 hours a day, 10 hours a week, etc. If you can connect project and people, that would be very helpful for us to plan resource and estimate the cost for every project/client.
I have to use float API to connect people with project by myself, this is helpful for my company to plan resource and estimate profitability. But if float can provide more features so I don't need to do it by myself that's better!
We were looking for a product that would help us plan and manage our current and up-coming projects with ease. There were lots of products on the market, but Float stood out from the rest for being very user friendly, responsive to queries and feedback, and for a good price. The reporting tool on Float is great and can be used to filter however you want. This has given us a much better overview of our staffing requirements and patterns.
One of the features we would like to see is different budget currencies available on the same team. Currently you can have one currency per team, but multiple teams. This for us is not practical as we have people on multiple projects that can be different currencies and this would give inaccurate
We have better staffing reporting and long term planning with Float, allowing us to spot gaps in our staffing or workloads and adjust them accordingly where needed.
