We evaluated On24 as part of our search for a great webinar provider, and they were at the top of our list. The best feature of On24 is the full-blown dashboard that is available in every webinar. It includes the speaker's videos, a Q&A section, plus a bunch of add-ons that can be added and configured to the administrator's liking. It really is such a sleek and appealing product, and one we would love to use. However, after speaking to a rep, we were turned off by it due to the high price. I just attended a webinar the other day that they put on, and was again highly impressed by the software. However, at this time, we're not looking to spend that much on a platform, and are willing to go with one that doesn't have all the bells and whistles. For a company that is, though, you certainly get your money's worth.
The major dislike was the high price to use the software. Despite that, it is quite unique, sleek, and fully flushed-out, so they can afford to charge such a price for companies that want to pay it. However, with so many other webinar platforms working in the same space these days, there are many others to choose from in a more affordable price range.
On24 is working in the virtual meetings & webinars space that has become quite saturated this past year due to COVID. But I believe they're a very unique service in this space - they're at a premium cost-wise, but also offer premium service and a premium design that caters towards large companies.
It is truly dedicated to running webinars at scale and offers great features, like the webinar dashboard, that make attending stand out.
ON24 charges fees for features as add ons that I feel whould be included with the subscription price. There are some features/workflows that are not as intutive as I feel they should be.
ON24 gives us a way to easily manage and create virtual events for hundreds of attendees at a time whiule automating some aspects of the event production process, like on-demand viewing and follow up email notifications.
The ON24 platform is incredibly easy to use for presenters. Recent updates have made it even more user-friendly, and the dev team is always open to suggestions about how to improve the platform. The integrations with CRM and automated marketing platforms are easily handled when working with their support teams. The insights the platform provides can be leveraged to improve conversations with prospective customers and to improve the quality of your events.
Comparatively, the platform is more costly than some options - though that's if you're considering collaborative platforms that can double as webinar platforms. As far as platforms designed specifically for delivering webinar content, ON24 is similarly priced. It would be nice to see more of the valuable features packaged into a single price rather than as elective add-ons - for ADA compliance, most places should have automated live and on-demand closed captions anyway.
Engaging content is necessary to drive funnel movement for prospects in the higher education space. The consumer looks for opportunities to interact with faculty and get answers to questions that can't be provided by dropping more copy onto a webpage. ON24 provides a great environment to do that, with a wide array of options for branding and customizing that audience experience. Since moving to ON24, we've increased our digital event production 460% YOY and have proven the value of webinars as a channel for engaging with our prospective students.
Ease of use, functional, user friendly, intuitive design. The support staff @ ON24 have been extremely helpful each time we've ever run into a minor issue or needed assistance with setting up the "invite/reminder/thank you" process for the webinars. The reporting functionality is quite easy to use as well and gives some rather basic but insightful visuals that help prove the value of the platform and allows for analysis of the audience profile. Integration with our MAP is currently underway - once setup, that will be a tremendous time saver and help us garner even greater value from the tool.
Audio quality issues at times; customers complain of audio cut out/visual display "timing out" and having to refresh browser. The team chat feature can be a bit distracting to presenters. We've learned to recommend that presenters log into several devices in case 1 "freezes" or our work device disconnects from VPN; the 2nd device has saved us in a few situations. Some audience members seem to take awhile to get used to the fact that they can't verbally interact; it then creates countless back and forth Q&A msg's which can be a bit difficult to manage if you've got a small group managing the session.
COVID 19 caused an inability to host live events; we decided this would be a great opportunity to shift to a "digital engagement" model with customers and prospects. As a result, we've gathered some wonderful feedback, generated high value leads/opportunities and also cut down on the expenses that came with live events.
ON24 is an industry leader for webcasts. They're well respected and have a robust platform which can host a webcast of varied complexity, from simple presentations to live-video. Their pricing has also become more competitive over the years.
The cost for "event management" packs is really prohibitive, and should be something discounted especially for new clients. Finding internal resources to create/set-up programs can sometimes be a larger hurdle than signing the agreement itself. Additionally, the cost and complexity for systems integrations seems overly cumbersome.
ON24 allows our clients to position themselves as thought leaders in a seamless, turn-key environment. The platform also allows for relatively robust reporting and lead capture, without being terribly disruptive.
I like the integrations that are available within ON24 with our marketing automation system and CRM. Webinars are the #1 influencing activity within our marketing organization. The platform allows us to broadcast a consistent webinar experience around the globe. And, as a program owner, I get to see all of the relevant metrics in one place.
The dislikes, when it comes to the product, are very few. The good news is that the team is open to feedback and making enhancements to the platform. For example, the Simu-live events did not support video on mobile, but this was added to a recent product release. There isn't as much granular behavior metrics per webinar within the Content Gateway, but hoping the reporting will be improved. Also, for the pricing, there seems to be a cost associated with everything (outside of the standard platform) which can be annoying sometimes. Helps me work on my negotiating skills though.
From a Marketing organization perspective, I'm tasked with generating pipeline. The platform allows me to be able to track that measurement, easily with integrations. From a user experience, ON24 enables a consistent attendee experience globally, content sharing across regions, modern platform that allows options for broadcasting.
So many things, but a big one is the simulive feature - it has the live feel, but can be recorded in advance. We use this for most of our webinars. And it has been a major value-add for us.
ON24 is great, and as a whole we don't have issues, but we do struggle with some of the reporting features. It's all there, just sometimes not the easiest to get everything we need in one place. But all of our support teams are eager to help us get the support we need with reports.
One of the big ones is how many people we actually need. Using WebEx, we needed one person to present and someone else behind the scenes to answer Q&A. Now that 1 person can easily play both parts because of simulive. We've also found great benefit in target pages because we can link to a Target page on our server for our clients, and we can manage the content instead of having to wait for a systems update.
ON24 looks really great from a viewer's perspective. I like how it automates the recording of all webinars and creates a tidy video for on demand. It also has a really great integration with Marketo, which is important for what we were using it. I also felt it reliably hosted videos, and I never really had a problem with the product not working. Also, the support is exceptional! I always got a quick and helpful response.
I don't really feel like the cost is justified in the functionality. First, we use it alongside a large martech stack, so reporting and all these things are done elsewhere. Also, I feel like the backend is a bit kludgy, and could frankly use a facelift. It's a bit hard to navigate or figure things out unless you have explicit training. I would not call it intuitive.
The business problem was a way to host webinars and capture respondents through our full system. To that end, ON24 was successful. I just feel like this same functionality is available in less expensive systems.
