"Cheap But Not Great"
What do you like best about GoDaddy?

Signing up for a GoDaddy hosting account was pretty easy.

What do you dislike about GoDaddy?

I'm not a fan of their marketing, with overtly sexualizing women. Something about it has always felt off to me, and turns me away from using the service.

What problems is GoDaddy solving and how is that benefiting you?

It is convenient and I don't recall having any issues with their hosting services.

What do you like best about GoDaddy?

Nothing at this point! no support, no service. no innovation! why do you exist?

What do you dislike about GoDaddy?

the pricing gimmicks most importantly their user interface is full of errors. every action you try to take results in some kind of error. changing a simple email... "Something went wrong and we're working feverishly to fix the issue. Please wait a bit and try again."

What problems is GoDaddy solving and how is that benefiting you?

"GoDaddy"
What do you like best about GoDaddy?

GoDaddy is extremely inexpensive, but really not worth anything at all and you’d be better off paying extra for real support and basic integrations.

What do you dislike about GoDaddy?

Unbelievable in this day and age that there would be an email platform without its own app or easy integration on an iPhone.

What problems is GoDaddy solving and how is that benefiting you?

Basic business email service.

"I think they sell your data to other vendors"
What do you like best about GoDaddy?

Easy to use. But there are plenty of options out there which are just as easy to use.

What do you dislike about GoDaddy?

I am under the strong impression they sell your data to web development agencies. Every time I buy a domain off of them my inbox becomes bombarded by agencies trying to sell me services. Also if you search for a domain name they bump up the price compared to if they present that option to you.

What problems is GoDaddy solving and how is that benefiting you?

Buying domains. It is the only thing worth doing on godaddy. Do not use their website builder...

"Overpriced, and way too aggressive with their marketing. "
What do you like best about GoDaddy?

Their initial intro offers are often very competitive. That's to get you hooked, of course!

What do you dislike about GoDaddy?

I used GoDaddy to set up my domain years ago, at a very decent price (I think something like £5 for two years for a .co.uk). I begrudgingly renewed it once, but this time round I annoyed at their constant reminder emails/scare tactics, I was getting frequent emails months before renewal was due. When it came around, I realised that their renewal charge for .co.uk was considerably more than most places are charging, at £12 a year. And that eleveated price doesn't include even the most basic security/privacy features, which are additional fees. Simply trying to buy a domain was fun in itself, since there were so many attempts to upsell me extra stuff like hosting, webmail, privacy etc. I know that's not unusual in business but when it comes to hosting I'd like to see a bit more professionalism, I guess - it's not something you'd be buying in the first place if you didn't know what you were doing. Strangely, when I moved my domain to Netcetera I found that the controls were locked/greyed out in my Godaddy control panel, even after following all their instructions to the letter. i had several chats with support, who initially blamed the new host (??) before eventually managing to manually unlock the domain controls I needed to transfer away from then. Now I have a strong suspicion that the 'bug' that led to me not being able to move my domain without chatting to support, was at least somewhat intentional, a last-ditch way to retain customers by making it difficult to move away. Overall my impression was of a money-hungry, low-quality company trying to rule the market purely with name recognition, upselling and heavy marketing. I only used them for DNS services; I feel for anyone who had to

What problems is GoDaddy solving and how is that benefiting you?

They created as many problems as they solved, but to be fair I used them for domain names for a number of years and never had any problems with the product itself. Overpriced and underspecced, sure, but it worked just fine for pointing people to my site. But then that's not hugely diificult...

"Godaddy is a web hosting service that needs to hang it up."
What do you like best about GoDaddy?

There isn't anything I really like about GoDaddy. I have used them over the years. I have moved NUMEROUS clients to other hosting providers. I still have a few clients and I work with that have GoDaddy and continue to move their domains and websites to better and easier to use web hosting platforms.

What do you dislike about GoDaddy?

I dislike their customer service, I dislike the user interface the constantly change, I dislike the fact that if you have problem with your site getting a 500 error, they try to blame it on you, know full well it's on their side.

What problems is GoDaddy solving and how is that benefiting you?

None.

"I thought buying a very cheap domain…with decent service"
What do you like best about GoDaddy?

I thought buying a cheap domain name and walk way in minutes, they facilitate your first steps via the dash which is great. But, that is it. Nothing else.

What do you dislike about GoDaddy?

Two years later buying some domains, I noticed GoDaddy adds over 1000% for a domain renewal - that's insane!! Plus you pay 20% VAT on top of your bill...ouch imagine you have 5-10 domains. Do your maths. I must say they do have a good marketing department. But that's all. The fact users can purchase both the domain, email and hosting for a very low price is great but trust me the fees will go up as described above. GoDaddy's solution isn't the perfect deal, as they hit you hard on the product renewal the second year, or whatever the period you bought for. I suggest reading the reviews across the web and you'll see why. They apply the old school marketing method - they want to sell you anything they can. Pay attention when that time comes, as their pop ups are misleading and renewals aren't easy to turn off. Do not make it easy to access fixtures or the renewal buttons, for example. I recently called GoDaddy's support and they were arrogant, rude and...useless. They send you emails with services you barely know why you need it (get a dictionary to understand it). Be aware that their support & sales work hand -in-hand (same tactics) they will pushy for a new deal.

What problems is GoDaddy solving and how is that benefiting you?

I only purchased domains with them, as I knew their customer service is slicy below decent - Heard friends and people complained about them. Their dash automatically presents items already ticked (pushing sale after sale) and it takes time to read it all. I still have one domain registered with GoDaddy but I will transfer it soon to WPX I thought i was saving money... benefits are zero.

"GoDaddy Social takes money for nothing"
What do you like best about GoDaddy?

There is nothing to like. They have not done what I expected them to do.

What do you dislike about GoDaddy?

I have been signed up on GoDaddy Social for 2 months now and paid $400 per month for essentially a photo shoot that gave me unusable and unneccessary photos that amount to a complete waste of time for me personally and my company. They have done nothing to get me new business, they have not even updated the social sites with the correct contact information, which should be step one. I could have spent 30 minutes and done this myself. This has amounted to a complete waste of money and I demand a refund. Do NOT use GoDaddy Social. If you want pics for your Facebook site, hire a photographer for $100 and save the $400/month charge that GoDaddy robs you of.

What problems is GoDaddy solving and how is that benefiting you?

Nothing has been solved. No benefits have been realized.

"Not the best email platform"
What do you like best about GoDaddy?

GoDaddy is a user-friendly email platform in that it is extremely simple and easy to use. However, due to its simplicity, it lacks a lot of the more advance features that other email platforms can provide.

What do you dislike about GoDaddy?

GoDaddy does not offer many features compared to other email platforms and is too simple/not able to customized for user preferences. I disliked using GoDaddy so much that I created a separate Gmail account and linked it to my GoDaddy for better ease of use. There were also many issues that arose while using GoDaddy with connecting to the right server; I also had issues linking it to my Gmail occasionally, which forced me to check my GoDaddy separate from my Gmail.

What problems is GoDaddy solving and how is that benefiting you?

Not many benefits that I can think of that other email platforms don't already provide.

"GoDaddy Major Security Risk"
What do you like best about GoDaddy?

You can easily grab a domain. That's pretty much it.

What do you dislike about GoDaddy?

GoDaddy is the worst platform. I am trying to update a website for a client. GoDaddy knowingly admits they have servers running php v4, and that their virtual environment is open to other security risks like DDoS attacks, hacks, SQL injections, etc., but they refuse to do anything about it. If you want to run a simple Wordpress site, or other CMS system, it will not function properly with anything lower than php 5.6 if you plan to have any current functionality from current versions of WP itself, themes or plugins. Additionally, refusing to update their server environment leaves every client on these servers in jeopardy. They do this because they want the customer to upgrade to a more expensive VPS plan, which simply isn't needed for a small website. They are a total scam and they will happily put anyone's website at risk for their own financial gain.

What problems is GoDaddy solving and how is that benefiting you?

None - moving to a new hosting platform.

"Decent service level but terrible promotional policies"
What do you like best about GoDaddy?

GoDaddy is a solid hosting service and domain name company. I use their Shared Linux Hosting service, and it's much more straightforward and convenient than setting up my own servers in the Cloud.

What do you dislike about GoDaddy?

Where to begin. First, they entice you in with a great promotional offer, but then once you've built your site, they jack up the prices, knowing that it'll be too costly for you to move. Second, they eliminated promotion codes for renewals. That's the only thing that made their exorbitant renewal rates in the past bearable. I've since gone to NameCheap, whose regular renewal rates are lower than even GoDaddy's promotional prices used to be. Third, their shopping cart is full of bloat as they try to nickel-and-dime you to add on services you don't need. I feel for the poor uneducated consumer who ends up buying a bunch of them. Fourth, their customer service is hit-or-miss. There are some reps who really know there stuff, while I've ended up having to teach basics to others myself.

What problems is GoDaddy solving and how is that benefiting you?

Website hosting and domain name registration. The cost comes at a premium since they build "idiot-proof" tools for those who can't set up servers or configure DNS themselves, but it does make things easier for even those who do know their stuff.

"Mediocre hosting, frequent limitations"
What do you like best about GoDaddy?

GoDaddy is the 800lb gorilla in hosting. They are a massive commodity host, and the service and price reflect that. However, as far as price goes, it's not a great value. But you can be sure they can scale with you and can handle anything you throw at them.

What do you dislike about GoDaddy?

They tend to have pretty stringent limitations on the shared hosting side. I've run into many situations where they throttle DB resources so much it kills the site performance. They also seem to over-provision and over-sell.

"You pay for what you get"
What do you like best about GoDaddy?

I have not been happy with their services

What do you dislike about GoDaddy?

Go daddy has continually let me down. Not only do I dislike their marketing and overall philosophy, but when clients I have force me to use this, I have to suffer through their clunky interface. They use cutting edge 2001 web interface tools. Generally, I transfer off of Go Daddy as quickly as possible.
