I like where this company is headed. It provides very comprehensive analytics... but it's not free.
The service was quite costly for me to use
understanding my customers better
The data is grouped by user, so you can easily track user behavior.
Very often, the data makes no sens when tracking a Funnel like the onboarding, etc... It gets messy and it's hard to understand. Their marketing automation solution does not work well : emails get sent sometimes randomly, the triggers fail to be detected also...
For the privous mobile apps I managed.
Cohort analysis tools are best in class, funnel tools are satisfactory, easy setup.
UI is heavily biased towards recently checked events; hard to export and re-import data; impossible to modify data in-place. While it hits all the basic checkmarks, competitors seem to be outpacing them on adding newer features.
Used for conversion optimization within our company and for basic business intelligence. Allows non-engineers to explore data in an ad-hoc manner.
Mixpanel is a really good tool if you want to know user specific interaction or know overall event specific interaction. We are able to use it for AB testing by creating specific reports based on the events, clicks, pages we are testing. It has some really good reporting if you know the specific events and interactions you are looking for.
There is not a way to see the most common path users are taking to a specific event. There have been several time where we wanted to know what people were doing before an error occurred and we could not get that information.
We want to know what people are doing and see how that changes after we implement a feature.
My primary use for Mixpanel was intraday statistics for eCommerce, for which Mixpanel did provide accurate and up-to-date information. However, report generation was not necessarily intuitive and it was not easy to generate free-standing reports that would automatically be updated or emailed daily. In short, great tool to get quick snapshots but not as useful as a complete data analytics suite.
Not very easy to generate reports, save report views, or automatically email reports or dashboards daily.
Great for viewing data on a minute-by-minute basis within a given day, something that is not readily available through Google Analytics, but not as intuitive or easy to use.
The fact that you can track basically every action/event that occurs on the platform, as well as easily analyze notification stats.
A few bugs have occurred here and there, but not too many.
We're using Mixpanel to help increase platform interaction, as well as enhancing our email marketing.
Event tracking is great. It is what the tool was made for. Has great tools for developers to test there code to ensure the events are working. This is far better them what google analytics toolset for developers.
So many events can be tracked it is difficult to know what you are looking at. I wish thee was a better way to display the detailed definition of each event. Some times you come to the wrong conclusion because you don't fully understand the event you are looking at. Also requires sec to add a new event each time you want to measure some thing new.
Getting better more detailed event tracking and better data to make decisions on.
There is more functionality than you might expect and once you know how to use it properly, you can analyze your data in a lot of different ways.
UI is not very intuitive and there is no live chat support to get quick answers so you have to break your workflow to figure things out. Also, I'm not sure if this is due to our data structure, but null values do not show in mixpanel, which greatly limits what can be done with the tool.
Mixpanel makes it easier for us to analyze and visualize product usage data across users, which help us spot trends and make more informed decisions.
Understand your users’ behaviors better, quickly segment and visualize your data, measure the success of your product launches
Filters are confusing and difficult to use, datas are sometimes not correct from the current root.
Finding better statistics for everything related to your business
I like the variety of reporting options.
Adding events and properties is not intuitive. We should be able to add fall outs to a dashboard. We should not have a limitation on what we want to look at in a fallout (max is 10)
I'm looking into completion rates and NPS. I do like the breakdown feature.
- Simple layout, people profiles are great
- Not simple for a developer to setup properly. Definitely more our fault than anything, but this just sits in our backlog forever
- Understanding our users behaviour, habits, click throughs
Data visualization is key and necessary for any business
Hard to use, not super intuitive and easy to make redundancies
Data visualization, app activations, tracking usage of features
All the features are quite strong. Funnel management is the most frequently used one. With the push/ email integration, it has also become a marketing tool now.
it's quite costly. One needs to be doubly sure before taking it up and doing the integration.
mostly building a data pipeline with events dumping and coming up with insights.
I love love love the funnel reporting view. It's the major reason I prefer it for some things to Google Analytics.
It's sometimes hard to segment data correctly. Its strength is to demonstrate progression; it's not for everyone's needs.
Progression through the funnel.
I like bookmarking funnels to revisit easily and frequently.
The tool is not intuitive. There's a ton of properties in there that don't exist anymore from testing and legacy products/pages and if you're not super intimate with the tool and language, it's almost impossible to use it without a power user walking you through every step. It's also not obvious when to use insights vs a funnel, etc.
Solving product marketing questions with Mixpanel. Trying to compare experiences with our site to determine the best user experience for our users.
-The UI is fairly intuitive and slick looking -The support folks have been very friendly over email -You feel like you're able to make decision, especially for funnel based analysis
-It is an expensive product -Support is done over email, and doesn't always feel like you have your answers solved -The accuracy of the data, whether or not it's due to the instrumentation often doesn't reflect what you think the data should be based on your db data -Unless you are 100% certain it is set up properly, the data doesn't engender trust
-Track usage of various features within our product -Measure funnel performance during onboarding and other product flows
Great data, great non-technical data exploration, aesthetically pleasing
Wish reports were a little easier to build (or rather a little more clear on what you've built)
Logging usage metrics for our product
Ease of use: once configured, Mixpnal is easy to use and understand. User view. you can access a detailed view of each user's activity.
13 different products, sometimes it's hard to find the appropriate product for a given need. Not possible to measure an evolution on more than 90 days. Very difficult to build long-term reports and dashboards (the most flexible option, JQL, requires to learn a specific programming language...)
Mainly analyzing funnels.
I like the level of detail we can collect on our customers - it allows us to gather insights and monitor how successful customers are using our app, so we can enable new customers with best practices. The graphs are customizable & allow you to view your data over time for analysis.
Not entirely user friendly in the setup if you do not have a developer background. I'd like more tools to work with predictive behavior - we need to be able to forecast churn and expansion.
We use Mixpanel to collect metrics on our customers feature usage and analyze in-app behavior. We have been able to gain more tangible insights into adoption and areas for improvement.
Events and people tracking works well. Notification features are fun and quite easy to use.
Because of the way it works, tracking is not 100% reliable, so nobody should use Mixpanel's notifications actions system to send critical notifications to their users.
Analytics, measuring values like churn. Testing changes on out website and their effectiveness.
