I love it's real time, not only it gives me a sense of confidence we're controlling any crisis situation that may occur but enables lots of authentic occasions for our brand character to interact with consumers.
When you monitor a big global consumer brand like we do, you might want more synthetic reporting providing you with more insightful knowledge clusters rather than information stream. I would love to have the pdf report functionality included in the Individual Plan. Also, I find the individual plan a bit expensive to start with.

Customers who are unhappy with our products are also located and reported to us, in order to approach them and avoid a bad review.
Its control panel could be designed in a cleaner and tidier way, in order to have a better control of the reviews information. The integration with Gmail cost us, but we were insistent in achieving it, with the help of the technical service. I know it is a relatively new software, but I wish it could have the option of translation to more languages like Italian and French.

It also integrates the compilation and listing of mentions with the possibility of interacting and engaging with the mentioners. These are usefully cataloged by reference to an influencer score index. Brand24 also has a good historic retrieval of previous mentions.
The keywords limitation may cause some trouble if you don't carefully design the monitoring & search project. The limits are reached quite easily without you even notice it. Besides, if you want to introduce changes to your keyword-based search once you have set it, the mentions retrieval process begins again.
Unlike other more expensive and complex social listening tools, Brand24 gives us immediate access to the social listening data we most need on a day-to-day basis. As we are a communications agency, I like to be able to have press post alerts, updates from government sites and particularly to be able to check not only Twitter as in other applications, but to have a wide view of instagram, facebook, and even forums and blogs.
Not being able to identify relevant RT's, on the part of authors, which prevents me from identifying the actual scope.
We solve together the reports in pdf, the exportable ones in excel, the predefined filters by country, the widgets with lists of authors and exclusions.
Brand24 is an easy to use tool to allow companies to monitor their brands and mentions across the web. Love the forum tracking as well as other social media sites outside Twitter and Facebook.
Perhaps the biggest frustration I have with the brand is that on the lowest pricing tier, you get updates every 12 hours. For me, it's not particularly mission-critical to be notified in real time, but the pricing discrepancy between updates every 12 hours and realtime updates is $450 monthly, which is hard for a small brand to stomach. Also, it's hard to see what truly is NEW and what's been repeated in the messages.
Tracking brand mentions across the web is difficult, but the consolidation in one single platform is great, especially with email notifications.
